Why I Hate Blow-out Games

Posted by Erik on November 4, 2008

I hate blow-out games, from a fantasy perspective at least. This was a day loaded with those kind of games. Aside from the statistically interesting center versus center battle between Andris Biedrins and Marc Gasol, stats across the board for most high tier guys were pretty much underwhelming to say the least.

Lopsided games leave a lot of minutes to be eaten up for the bench guys to grab some playing time. The starters relax on the bench while their stats for the day wallow in fantasy mediocrity. This works both ways as neither the winning nor the losing team wants its stars risking injury just to battle for something that’s a foregone conclusion.

I guess it’s just part of the game. Hopefully we’ll see some nailbiters before the week is over. Actually how about some double overtimes games, now that would be a fantasy blast!
